MICHIEL BALLHAUS
Michiel Ballhaus was born in The Hague and studied piano (classical and jazz) at the Conservatory of Maastricht and Amsterdam.
Since 1999 he accompanied the Royal malechoir “de Mastreechter Staar” from which he is also the 2nd conductor.
Since 2001 he played First Keyboard in the following musicalproductions of Stage Entertainment: ‘Elisabeth’, ‘Aida’, ‘Lion King’, ‘Cats’, ‘Evita’, ‘Joseph’, ‘Mary Poppins’, ‘Little Mermaid’ and ‘Sister Act’.
He also played with various famous Dutch artists like Simone Kleinsma, André van Duin, Jon van Eerd, René van Kooten and Brigitte Heitzer.
Since 2009 he has worked as Musical Director of the following productions: ‘Jon en de Jongens’, ‘the Fantastics’, ‘Company’, ‘Into the Woods’, ‘Bare’, ‘Footloose’, ‘Drood’, ‘Little shop of Horrors’, Fame’’ , ‘Pippin’ and ‘The Wiz’.
At this moment Michiel Ballhaus is Musical Supervisor of the musical ‘Soldaat van Oranje’. Also did he compose and arrange for several musicals/music productions.
He teaches since 2009 at the conservatory at Rotterdam.
